Feature
Call screening service: sales pitches and spam never reach you
Short answer
A call screening service answers your calls first and decides which ones reach you. With AIReceptionistGo, that job belongs to a 100% AI receptionist. It picks up every call and finds out who’s on the line and why. Sales pitches and robocalls stop there. Real customers get put through or leave a message, following your rules. Your phone rings less, and when it does ring, the call is worth picking up.

What AI call screening does
-
It answers every call before it reaches you
Nobody gets a busy signal or a full voicemail box, and you stop picking up to hear “Is this the business owner?”
-
It asks who’s calling and why
A name, a company and a reason. Real customers answer in a sentence.
-
It sorts each call
Customer, supplier, job applicant, sales pitch, recorded message. Each kind has an outcome you chose.
-
It puts the right calls through
A customer with a problem can be transferred to you, booked into your calendar or taken as a message, depending on your rules.
-
It handles the rest politely
Salespeople are told you don’t take sales calls and can leave their details. Recorded messages don’t get to you.
-
It shows you everything it screened
Each call, including the ones it kept away, is in your summary, so you can check that no customer was turned away.
Why a spam call blocker for business isn’t enough
Most spam blockers work on the number. A carrier filter, a business spam call blocker app or an AI powered spam call blocker checks the caller ID against a list and decides before the phone even rings. That stops a lot of robocalls. It also has two gaps a small business feels.
-
First, it can block the wrong people.
A new customer calling from a number that’s been reused, or a cell phone that was wrongly flagged, may never get through, and you’ll never know they tried.

Answered and handled like any customer
-
Second, a number tells you nothing about the call.
A salesperson calling from an ordinary cell phone passes every filter and still interrupts you mid-job.
AIReceptionistGo call screening
Told you don’t take sales calls
Business call screening works the other way around. Every call is answered, and the decision is made on what the caller says, not on the number they call from. Robocalls still get stopped, and a customer whose number you’ve never seen still gets through.
How business call screening works
-
The call is answered with your business name
AI Receptionist says up front that it’s an AI and asks who’s calling. There’s no menu to get through; the way it greets and listens is on the AI phone agent page.
-
It asks the questions your protocol sets
Who’s calling, from which company, and what it’s about. For a customer, it carries on with the questions your industry needs, the same way it would if there were no screening at all.
-
It applies your rules to the answer
Customers, and the people you’ve told us always get through, receive the treatment you chose: transferred, booked or taken as a message. Sales calls are turned down politely, with a chance to leave details. Recorded messages and callers who won’t say why they’re calling are handled the way your rules say.
-
You see the result in writing
Every call ends up in your summary with a label: customer, supplier, sales, spam. Recordings and transcripts are in your dashboard if you want to check one.

Sales pitches and spam stop here
Tired of answering calls that only want to sell you something? Get started and we’ll write your screening rules from the protocol for your trade. The AI receptionist demo lets you hear how other callers are handled.
What you decide about screening
What gets through is your call. We configure the screening exactly as you describe it.
-
Who always gets through. Regular customers, your suppliers, your accountant, family. A list of people who are never screened out.
-
Which calls reach you right away. A customer with a problem, an existing job, a caller who asks for you and says why.
-
What happens to sales calls. A polite no with a chance to leave details, or a message for the few vendors you do want to hear from.
-
What counts as spam. Recorded messages, silent calls, callers who won’t give a reason.
-
What the AI says. The exact words it uses to turn down a sales pitch, so it sounds like your business.
When a call does need to reach a person, call transfer explains how the AI briefs them before connecting.

The method: it knows who to hand over
Our call protocols come from nearly two decades of running phone reception for small businesses.
Screening is where that experience earns its keep, because the hard part isn’t spotting a robocall. It’s telling a vendor with a good script from a new customer who’s in a hurry.
-
It asks what matters. The questions come from your industry’s protocol, so a real customer is asked about their job, not quizzed like a suspect.
-
It knows when to hand over. The rules you set say which callers deserve your attention now, which belong with your team and which can leave a message.
-
You see every call. Screened calls are recorded and summarized like the rest, so a mistake can be caught and the rule adjusted.
The reasoning behind each rule is on our method, and what happens between signing up and your first screened call is on how it works.

Questions about call screening
Will call screening block my real customers?
No, because it doesn’t block numbers. Every call is answered, and the decision is based on what the caller says. A new customer calling from an unknown number is asked how it can help and handled like any other customer. If a call is ever sorted the wrong way, you’ll see it in your summary and we can adjust the rule.
How does it spot a robocall?
A robocall plays a recording or stays silent; it never answers the question “who’s calling and why.” Your rules decide what happens to a call like that, and it shows up in your summary labeled as spam, so nothing is lost, nothing interrupts you and you can check it whenever you want.
What if a salesperson says they’re a customer?
The AI keeps asking what your protocol asks a customer: what the job is, the address, the problem. Someone selling advertising can’t answer those, and the conversation shows it. When the answers don’t add up, it takes a message instead of putting the call through, and you decide later.
Can I let some sales calls through, like my suppliers?
Yes. Suppliers, partners and any vendor you work with can go on the list of callers who always get through, by name or company. Calls from them are handled the way you choose: put through to you, passed to someone on your team or taken as a message. Everyone else selling something gets your polite no.
Is AI call screening the same as an AI powered spam call blocker?
No. A spam call blocker works before the call is answered and only sees the number. AI call screening answers, asks, and decides on the answer. You don’t have to choose between them: if you keep the blocker you already have, whatever it lets through still gets screened, so the two work side by side.
Do I still see the calls it screened out?
Yes. Every call, screened or not, appears in your summary with a label such as sales or spam, and the recording and transcript are in your dashboard. You can skim those lines in seconds or open any call to check who it was. See the virtual receptionist page for everything else it handles.
Fewer interruptions, no lost customers
Name the people who must always reach you, the calls that can wait for a message and the way you’d like sales pitches turned down. We draft your screening rules from our protocol for your type of business and send them for your approval. Forward your number once you’re happy with them, and your phone only rings for calls worth taking.
